TMJ/ Migraine/ Oral Facial Pain
What are TMJ/Migraine/Oral Facial Pain Treatments?
The TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is the joint that connects your lower jaw to your skull. As with many other joints in the body, the TMJ can experience pain, discomfort, inflammation and limited range of movement that gets in the way of your quality of life. When this occurs, it’s known as TMD or temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
Migraine headaches, facial and neck pain are a few debilitating conditions that require TMJ/Migraine/Oral Facial Pain therapy. Many dental issues are related to these key factors and treating these issues can result in improvement in frequency and severity of pain.
We offer a range of conservative yet effective options for all TMJ, Migraine and Oral Facial pain-related problems.
Why do you need TMJ/Migraine/Oral Facial Pain Treatment?
The TMJ is incredibly necessary when it comes to eating, chewing and simply opening and closing your mouth to speak. When the joint becomes inflamed or painful, you may find that it gets in the way of living your best life. Some problems to look for concerning the TMJ include:
Headaches or migraines
Chronic earaches
Clicking, popping or grinding of the jaw bone
Jaw, face, head, neck pain
Low back pain
Tingling fingers
Inability to open your mouth fully without pain or discomfort
Tooth wear
Inflammation and tenderness
If you are experiencing regular migraine headaches and oral facial pain, it can take a toll on your daily life and ability to function. Many Doctors try medications and provide other treatments, but if the pain is related to or made worse by a dental condition, then a dentist will need to treat underlying issues. This can help you reduce the number and frequency of headaches you are getting, vastly improving your quality of life.
Dr Alice Lam has my highest recommendation. I went in for a routine dental visit and Dr Lam took the time to ask how I was doing overall, not just my teeth. Well, I was having some severe chronic pain issues unrelated (i thought) to my dental health and she listened to me. She's working with me to stabilize my bite and restore my body to a neutral position, and I'm already experiencing great results from it- my whole body, not just my teeth/jaw! I'm so thankful to have hope again and the possibility to live a life free from chronic pain. For me this is a miracle and Dr Lam is an angel. Thank you for your patience and kindness - it is so rare in today's hectic world.
